Directions to Wake Technical CC

Wake Technical CC is 6 miles south of Raleigh on US 401, between Garner andFuquay-Varina. For directions, click one of the links below:

From the North and West:

  1. Take I-40 to Raleigh.
  2. I-40 joins I-440 (the Raleigh Beltline) to the west of Raleigh. Stay on both. DO NOT take the Wade Avenue Exit (#289)
  3. Take I-40/440 around to the south (counter-clockwise).
  4. Take exit 298 (South Saunders Street) to the south (right). This is US 401. Turn right from the exit onto 401.
  5. Follow US 401 south. (The street name may change to Wilmington Street. This is to confuse outsiders; ignore it.)
  6. In Garner (not far), there is a split (US 401 splits from US 70). Stay to the right and continue on US 401 south.
  7. Approximately 5 miles south on US 401, the local road 1010 (or Ten-Ten) will cross 401. There is a ne Food Lion there. Continue straight on US 401 south.
  8. About another mile south on the left is Wake Tech.
  9. Turn left at the second entrance (the only traffic light).
  10. Turn right at the first street inside Wake Tech. As you come down the hill, you will pass two buildings to the left. The third and last building (Technical Education) is set back from the parking lot through a stand of trees. The building is white on top and brick on the bottom. The ESL Lab (TE 110) is on the side of the building facing the trees, parking lot, and US 401.

From the East:

  1. Take US 64 or US 264 to Raleigh.
  2. At the Raleigh Beltline (I-440), head to the left (clockwise).
  3. On I-440, you will pass Poole Road and the I-40 split (to the southeast). DO NOT take I-40 east (really southeast) toward I-95 and Wilmington.
  4. Stay on I-440 (which is really I-440/I-40 West).
  5. Take exit 298 (South Saunders Street) to the south. This is US 401. The exit will circle you around toward the south. Turn right from the exit onto 401.
  6. Follow US 401 south. (The street name may change to Wilmington Street. This is to confuse outsiders; ignore it.)
  7. In Garner (not far), there is a split (US 401 splits from US 70). Stay to the right and continue on US 401 south.
  8. Approximately 5 miles south on US 401, the local road 1010 (or Ten-Ten) will cross 401. There is a new Food Lion there. Continue straight on US 401 south.
  9. About another mile south on the left is Wake Tech.

From the South:

  1. Take I-40 toward Raleigh.
  2. Approximately 16 miles northeast of the I-95/I-40 exchange, you will come to NC-42 (approximately mile marker 312). Take NC-42 west.
  3. About 11 miles west on NC-42, you will come to US 401. Take 401 north (to the right).
  4. 4-5 miles north, you will find Wake Tech on your right. Turn right at the "Jack Wells Furniture" sign.
  5. Turn left into the first parking lot entrance. Park in the row nearest the trees and the building straight ahead. The building is the Technical Education (TE) Building. TE 110 is on the facade facing US 401.
